A customer sent this picture in and asked if it was dangerous and wanted to know what it was. Often described as somewhere between vomit and scrambled eggs, the spongy organism is a type of fungi known as slime mold. It isn't really dangerous, but it is unsightly and can cause some plant related complications if it continues to spread around small plants.

Overall, you can leave it be and it should disappear on its own in time or, if you don't want to wait, you can simply rake it into a garbage bag and dispose of it.
